Shiney Pokemon
You probably already know something about "shinies" or differently
colored Pokemon. You may have been lucky enough to catch one. If you've
played Gold/Silver/Crystal, then you most likely have. The Red Gyrados
in the Lake of rage was a shiney.
Shinies get their name from the sparkle animation that appears whenever
they are sent into battle. Another thing about shinies is that you can
not run away from them in battle, but then again, why would you want to?
The chances of getting a shiney are 1 in 8,192. So every time you enter
a wild Pokemon battle there is a 1/8192 chance of that Pokemon being shiny
so don't get your hopes up. Contrary to what many belive, the chances
of getting a second shiney by breeding a shiney Pokemon are still the
same. It is ALWAYS going to be 1/8192, so be happy if you find one (I've
only found one in the wild on my Saphire game before. It's a Mawile.)
In DP, there is a method to raising your chances of catching a shiney
by "Chaining" with the PokeRadar. But I don't know much about it at the moment.
I will probably write a guide on it sometime in the future.
