Maylene
General Info - Maylene's Dojo specializes in the
Fighting type, so you can fight back with Flying or Psychic
type moves. Although neither of those types is known for
outstanding defenses, both have great attack and speed,
especially Staravia and Kadabra/Alakazam. But if they get hit
too much, expect them to go down quickly. It may be better to
attack with a Pokemon that is resistant to Fighting type
attacks that also has good defenses. If you chose Turtwig,
your Grotle should fair pretty well. Of course, if you happen
to have a Ghastly/Haunter from the Old Chateau on your team, this battle
should be a piece of cake.
Another thing you should keep in mind is that most of
Maylene's Pokemon come equipped with the Force Palm move,
which is very strong and has that annoying ability to paralyze
your Pokemon. So carry some super potions and paralyze heals.
Lv 27 (Fighting/Psychic) - Meditite is not a very big
threat, so just take it out and move on to the bigger threats.
Lv27 (Fighting) - If you've battled any of the trainers
on the gym floor, you probably know how annoying these guys
can be. They have okay defences coupled with high attack,
so be careful.
Lv30 (Fighting/Steel) - Lucario can be annoying with
it's high attack and the multitude of resistances given to it with
it's steel type, mainly Flying and Psychic. Now is the time to
switch out that Saravia or Kadabra and bring in a Pokemon like
Monferno or something with a Fire or Ground type attack. Try to
withstand it's attacks, heal when necessary, and preserver.
